A complete bottom-up rebuild of a 1990s Alpinestars Cro-Mega — rebuilt as a one-off restomod with modern usability, vintage attitude and plenty of early-MTB colour.
This was not built as a catalogue-correct restoration. It is a parts-bin special in the best possible sense: a carefully rebuilt steel Alpinestars frameset brought back to life with a mix of quality period, NOS and modern components. The result is a loud, practical and very characterful 26-inch town, pub, path and posing machine.
The frame is a 20” Alpinestars Cro-Mega, built from Tange MTB Cr-Mo butted tubing with the original red and white colourway, oversized graphics and Cro-Mega fork. The paint shows age-related marks, chips and patina, all in keeping with a vintage mountain bike of this era.
The bike has been stripped and rebuilt from the frame up. It includes freshly built 26” wheels, rebuilt rear hub, rebuilt headset, new cables and housing, new tyres, Race Face crankset and bottom bracket, Dia-Compe / Blue Lug cantilever brakes, friction shifting and a used Brooks C17 saddle with blue rivets.
The setup is intentionally simple: friction shifting, robust 26” wheels, fat SimWorks tyres and a comfortable upright cockpit. It has the stance of a vintage mountain bike, but with a more usable, considered build for everyday riding.
Sizing
This is a 20” frame and should suit riders approximately 5 ft 7” to 6 ft 1”, depending on preferred fit, riding style and setup.
Contact points and setup can be adjusted where needed, including saddle position, stem/cockpit options and general riding position. Please get in touch if you would like the bike adjusted towards a more upright, relaxed or stretched-out fit.
Pedals & Bag are not included. For illustration purposes only.

Condition Notes
This is a rebuilt vintage bike, not a new bicycle. The frame and fork retain visible paint marks, chips and signs of previous use. These have been left as part of the character of the bike.
Mechanically, the bike has been rebuilt from the frame up with new, rebuilt or carefully selected components. It is ready to ride, but as with any vintage bicycle, ongoing maintenance should be expected.
