A restored and rebuilt 1992 GT Tequesta in the brilliant Wild Daktari Black paintwork.

This bike started as a frameset — frame, fork, stem and seatpost — and has been built back up around the original finish. The paint is not perfect, but it absolutely deserves to be preserved. The frame was stripped, cleaned, rust-converted where needed, washed again, T-Cut, polished and then rebuilt into a light, playful 26-inch steel mountain bike.

The Tequesta sits in that perfect early-90s GT space: Triple Triangle frame, bold graphics, internal rear brake routing and a strong BMX influence. This build leans into that character rather than trying to hide it.

It has been rebuilt with a practical 1x drivetrain, vintage-style wheels, tan-wall Schwalbe Billy Bonkers tyres, Azonic bars, Vans grips, indexed Shimano shifting and a mix of Dia-Compe and Shimano braking. Red, yellow and gold accents have been used carefully to work with the original paint without overwhelming it.

The result is a compact, lively and very usable vintage MTB. Light, sharp, playful and full of character.

This is a restored vintage bicycle, so signs of age, use and patina remain. That is part of the appeal.

Sizing

Approximate frame size: 16 inch

Currently set up to fit around 5 ft 6 to 5 ft 10, depending on rider proportions and preferred fit. I am 5 ft 9.5 with a 32 inch inseam and the bike fits me well in its current setup.

Cockpit, saddle height and contact points can be adjusted to suit different setup needs.
