Muddy Fox Adventure Cromo – Custom Vintage Cruiser

A beautifully preserved Muddy Fox Adventure Cromo, rebuilt from the frame up as a comfortable and practical all-road cruiser.

This bike was purchased locally from its original owner, who had owned it from new. Although it arrived dusty and with corrosion across the original wheels, the frame showed real promise. Once fully stripped, cleaned, T-Cut and polished, the finish revealed a rich red and gold metallic paintwork that changes character in direct sunlight.

Rather than creating a strict catalogue restoration, the bike has been rebuilt to retain its original charm while making it genuinely enjoyable to ride today. Wide swept-back handlebars provide a relaxed, upright position, while V-brakes offer considerably stronger and more dependable braking than the original cantilever setup.

The drivetrain is built around a polished Sugino crank and 34-tooth Surly chainring. Achieving the correct chainline required careful setup and a 122mm bottom bracket, resulting in a clean and reliable 1×7 drivetrain. Small gold and red hardware details complement the frame graphics without overpowering the build.

The original-style vintage wheels have been carefully refurbished and paired with tan-wall Schwalbe tyres. A Shimano SIS rear derailleur and seven-speed freewheel provide simple, dependable shifting, while leaving plenty of scope for future upgrades.

Finished with a wonderfully aged Selle Italia Turbo saddle, silver rear rack and gold cable housing, this is an honest and exceptionally charming vintage bike ready for everyday riding, gravel paths, pub trips and weekend exploring.
